TMJ and Massage Therapy

A woman holding her jaw with TMJ pain

Written by Bill Richardson, RMT

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) restrictions can lead to headaches, teeth grinding, and poor range of motion in the jaw. Thankfully, registered massage therapy in Vernon BC can help. We treat both sides of your TMJ, as the left and right move together. When one side is restricted it can transfer discomfort to the other. The jaw muscles, when irritated or tense, can refer pain to the temples or head. Often the jaw muscles have trigger points, which become sensitive to touch, so care is taken when treating the TMJ to be as gentle as possible.

The benefits of this treatment are better sleep, decreased pain, proper tracking of the jaw, and decreased or absent headaches. If any of this seems relevant to you, please let me know and find out if this treatment is right for you. I'd love to meet you to see if I can help!

Health and Happiness.
